If you answered “yes” to any of the above questions, you’ve come to the right place.
PAR5 Physical Therapy can help you end your foot and ankle pain and improve your mobility.
At PAR5 Physical Therapy, we specialize in helping active people get back to doing the things they love to do without pain meds, injections, or surgery. Many people make the mistake of only treating the “symptoms” of their foot or ankle pain, and not taking the steps to understand the root cause of the problem.
We use a 3 step process to treat your foot and ankle pain naturally, with long-term results to keep your foot and ankle pain away for good:
Reduce your pain.
The first step is to reduce your pain. Pain can alter the way you move and alter your daily life. It can lead to movement compensations that aggravate your symptoms even more. Pain is influenced by many factors. We listen to you and get to know the story behind your pain.
We know how frustrating the medical system can be. It can be difficult to spend more than 10 minutes with a physician, or even find a specialist to get the care you need. With other physical therapy clinics, the care can even feel rushed, impersonal, and not very attentive. At PAR5 Physical Therapy, we schedule only one patient per hour so you get the time you deserve.
Not all foot or ankle pain is the same. Every person is unique. At PAR5 Physical Therapy, we take the time to get a deeper understanding of what is happening to you and what goals you want to achieve.
After we go through a thorough discussion about your foot or ankle pain, we can begin treatment on your very first visit.
2. Restore your body
The second step is to restore your body. After a physical examination and progressive treatment, we can discover the true source of your pain. Through a customized plan, we can work on restoring your mobility, stability, and coordination to ensure lasting pain relief and optimize your foot and ankle function.
If you’ve had foot or ankle pain for a while, you’ve probably had an X-ray or MRI that showed “arthritis” or “bone spurs” or “plantar fasciitis”. Most people are unaware that these issues CAN get better, even if your doctor told you that nothing could be done except for surgery. Every case of foot or ankle pain is unique.
We find that some parts of your body may not be working efficiently, and therefore cause more stress on your foot and ankle for prolonged periods of time.
Sometimes it’s an old injury that never really healed properly and created movement compensations.
Or it could be old scar tissue or stiffness that develops from previous surgeries that cause less mobility in your ankle or foot.
It might even be weakness in your foot muscles that can add stress and uneven loading on your ankle joint.
Or it can be improper footwear that creates more ankle or foot pain.
Every person’s root cause is different. Our goal is to find that root cause, fix it naturally, restore your mobility, and get you back doing the things you love. We do this by using Manual Therapy techniques.
Manual Therapy is a method of using hands-on, targeted treatment that can rapidly restore your mobility and reduce pain before doing any exercise. We use different tools that can help you feel better by performing the following:
Break up scar tissue from previous injuries
Unlock stiff and achy joints
Release tight knots or spasms that create tightness or discomfort
Increase circulation into problem areas
3. Build resiliency
The third step is to make your body resilient. Our goal is always to return you to doing the things you love without worrying about re-injury. You can count on us to be with you each step of the way along your active lifetime.
Most people think that once their pain is gone, that their body is healed. This isn’t true.
Foot and ankle pain can cause you to develop bad compensation habits like:
Turning your foot excessively when you walk.
Limping when you move around because of foot or ankle pain.
Using “momentum” to get up out of a chair because of leg weakness or pain.
Putting too much weight on one side of your body when your standing or sitting because of increased pain.
These prolonged compensations can cause the brain to interpret certain movements and positions as harmful. Most exercises only address strength or mobility, but don’t address rebuilding the brain-body connection. At PAR5 Physical Therapy, we spend each session 1-on-1 with attention to detail to prevent movement compensations, reduce re-injury and optimize your way of life!
