My name is Dr. Paul Kochoa. I am the founder of PAR5 Physical Therapy and a physical therapist who specializes in orthopedic musculoskeletal injuries, manual therapy, and golf fitness.
I enjoy finding new ways to stay fit and exercise. Learning new things allows me to expand my skill and movement knowledge base. My love of movement, fitness, and golf has blended together to create my treatment philosophy.
Move better. Feel better. Play better.
I’ve experienced the medical model from both sides: as a patient and as a provider.
In high school and college, I was a physical therapy patient. My first exposure to physical therapy was in high school when I hurt my back doing a deadlift in the football weight room. I’ve dealt with injury for most of my life because of sports, exercise, or other recreational activities. Through physical therapy, I’ve developed a toolbox to maintain my resiliency to injury and pain.
Maintaining my function and ability to do the things I love to do for as long as I can is my life-long goal. Being ready and able to play with my kids or grandkids, walk 18 holes of golf, or lift and carry objects up and down stairs pain-free when I’m 80 is something that I hope to accomplish.
For over 25 years, I’ve worked in various clinics and medical settings. I found that most clinics schedule multiple patients an hour, so my patients would end up sharing my time with others. No matter how effective I thought my treatment was, splitting my attention and skill felt inefficient.
That’s why I choose to treat only one patient per hour. I can devote my undivided attention to one client at a time, and I find that I can be more effective at helping people and changing lives in fewer visits.
I received my doctorate of physical therapy from Mercy University and a BS in exercise physiology from Rutgers University. I am an APTA board-certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist, a Titleist Performance Institute Certified Level 3 Golf Medical Professional and Golf Fitness Instructor, SFMA Level 2 Certified, a certified Graston Technique provider, Intricate Art Dry Needling (IADN) Certified Specialist, L1 CrossFit Fitness Coach, and a certified RockTape and RockBlade FMT practitioner.
